Homeopathy for travel – the basics

When recommending remedies for someone who is not particularly familiar with homeopathy keep it simple, and stick to only a few remedies with clear indications. Combination remedies work well here as well.

For long haul travel I would suggest

A jet lag combination such as the Naturopharm Jet lag spray or the No Jet Lag tablets, available from health shops and pharmacies. These combine common homeopathic remedies to help reduce the effects of jet lag and acclimatise to a new time faster. The other key thing here is to try and get into the new time as soon as possible. The body clock changes approximately an hour a day but if you try to get up and go to sleep on the new time zone it does help.

Nux Vomica – often with travel comes a change in diet. Overindulgence (food or alcohol) with indigestion or heartburn from over eating, or hangovers from too much alcohol may be helped with Nux Vomica. Also if you feel nauseous and would just feel better if you could throw up. Nux Vomica can also help with Constipation.

Aconite – this is your first signs of an illness remedy, or if you have been in contact with someone and you are anticipating getting sick. Sickness can come on after exposure to a cold, dry wind, and have a sore throat, sneezing and temperature. Aconite can also be used for shock in case of an accident.

Arsenicum – food poisoning, with nausea and vomiting, griping stomach pains and diarrhoea. Arsenicum can also have a fever, and a runny nose, and they can feel anxious. The Prime Minister of India is suggesting Arsenicum can be taken if exposed to Coronavirus as a preventative and treatment.

Arnica- no one plans to get injured, but if taking remedies “in case” then Arnica is a good one to add. Any injury, bleeding, bruising or shock can be helped with Arnica.

There are other remedies you might want to add depending on your destination, activities or personal tendencies to illness. Feel free to message me for help selecting the right remedies for you.
