Repeat your Constitutional Remedy

If you haven’t seen your Homeopath for a while, and something comes up, but you can’t get in to see your Homeopath, you could consider repeating your constitutional remedy.

Is this the same as what you have had before? In which case you can usually repeat the remedy you had for this, and if it doesn’t help then see your Homeopath.

What is happening for you emotionally at the moment? Even if the physicals are different, is your emotional response the same as you have had in the past? In which case, your constitutional remedy may help because the core emotional issue is the same.

Recently I have had a couple of cases where a remedy that *should* have worked therapeutically because it fits all of the symptoms of the current complaint has failed to work. In both cases their constitutional remedy, that worked years ago on a completely different complaint has seen a big turn around and suddenly things are healing.

A “constitutional” remedy is one that encompasses your whole being, the totality of symptoms. Sometimes a prescription is chosen on a small part or an acute illness picture, and does not encompass the whole, but when you come back to the constitutional picture it works well for you on every level. Sometimes you may see something written about constitutional prescribing, and because it encompasses your whole being it is also why this type of appointment takes longer than one using a protocol or therapeutic based treatment.

This is something that I am very comfortable with my clients doing – whether it works or not it will give me more information. However, if you see a different Homeopath they may have a different idea, so it is worth discussing with your Homeopath.  In general also, if you take your constitutional remedy (or any homeopathic remedy) and it doesn’t help, then please don’t keep taking it hoping something will change. The wrong remedy won’t do anything if you take it once or twice. The wrong remedy taken repeatedly may give you symptoms of that remedy, and that is what we call a proving.

With the Christmas holidays coming up, I am taking time off and your other practitioners may be also. As well as knowing you can repeat your constitutional remedy, it may be useful to read this post from last year about what to do when your remedy has nearly run out, or you don’t have the remedy you need. It tells you how to make your last pilule or last drop go further, or make a paper remedy.
